How Do I Enable File Download in Internet Explorer (IE)?

ISSUE:

As a User, I'm unable to download a file while using Internet Explorer (IE). As a result, I don't have proper access to my training certificate downloads, report outputs, et al.

 

Self-help:

Enable file download

 

Internet Explorer 8

  1. Click on Tools then Internet Options
  2. Select Security tab and ensure the “Internet” zone is selected
  3. Click the “Custom Level” button to open the Security Settings window
  4. Under “Downloads select Automatic prompting for file downloads” select the “Enable” radio button
  5. Under “Downloads select File download” select the “Enable” radio button
  6. Click “OK” to save                                        
  7. Select “Advanced” tab in the Internet Options window
  8. Uncheck the checkbox on “Do not save encrypted pages to disk”
  9. Click "OK" to save 

 

Internet Explorer 9+ 

  1. Click on Tools >> Internet Options.
  2. Select “Security” tab and ensure the “Internet” zone is selected.
  3. Click the “Custom Level” button to open the Security Settings window.
  4. Under “Downloads >> File download” select the “Enable” radio button.
  5. Click “OK” to save.                                                 
  6. Select “Advanced” tab in the Internet Options window.
  7. Uncheck the checkbox on “Do not save encrypted pages to disk.”
