FTP Client Setup

ISSUE:

I want to set up my FTP client.

Self-Help:

In case you are granted access to Secure FTP, all you need to do is to set the FTP client up.

First it should be installed to your machine (in case you do not have permissions to install, please refer to your local IT department).Medidata recommended FTP clients are:

  • CoreFTP Lite
  • WS FTP Pro
  • Note: FileZilla versions later than 3.0.10 including, are not compatible. If you would lije to use this client, you will not be able to do so. Please use any of the Clients such as CoreFTP. It is completely free.

 

 

How to configure your FTP client (for a few of the most used FTP clients):

1.Attempt to connect your installed FTP Client.

2.In the respective fields, enter the following:

Site Name: your preference

Server: server name should be provided in the initial account creation e-mail

Username: as provided

 

Password: as provided

Anonymous: unchecked

Port: 21 or 990

Timeout: your preference

Retries: your preference

Retry On: your preference

PASV: checked

Connection: AUTH TLS SSL  

SSL Options: SSL listings checked; SSL transfer checked; Open SSL checked

Label: your preference

Host address: server name should be provided in the account creation e-mail

Username: as s provided in the account creation e-mail

Password: as provided by the Helpdesk

Login method: Normal  

Type.png

Then go the the Type tab:

Protocol type: FTP with TLS/SSL (AUTH TLS - Explicit)

Port: 21 or 990

Server type: Auto-detect

Data connection type: Use PASV

Transfer type: your preference

Server time zone: No Offset  (from the drop-down)

Clear Data channel: unchecked

Clear Command channel : unchecked

Automatically detect: unchecked

Hostname: server name provided in the account creation e-mail

Username: as provided in the account creation e-mail

Connect using: FTP with TLS/SSL  

Enable encryption: checked

Password: as provided in the account creation e-mail

Add to keychain: your preference

Initial folder: your preference

Port: 21 (port 990 connections are not supported by this client)

Try to connect: your preference

Account: leave blank

Firewall: NONE

Use Passive mode for data connections: checked

Force passive connections to use host address: unchecked

Disable directory caching: your preference

Verify deletions: your preference

Connection retries: your preference

Network timeout: your preference

Remote port: 21 or 990

Keep alive: 0
