Though this step was verified in the qualification checklist, in order to install the inteleGRID Transfer Agent, you must have local administrator rights to your PC. This is only needed for the installation and not for the ongoing use of the technology. Please contact your local IT Department to assist with this. They will be able to provide you with temporary access required to install the software.
2. Internet Explorer utilizing Java upload applet
If you have installed the inteleGRID Transfer Agent as directed above and the browser is utilizing a Java upload applet instead (like the one shown below). To correct this, please follow the steps in section the below.

After you install the Transfer Agent, but before your first upload, an ActiveX upload control must be verified and enabled in your Internet Explorer browser. Further, this must be done in a timely manner or else an alternate Java-based upload applet will load (as indicated above).
If you can see the security banner, utilize the following steps to complete the installation:
- Click on the security banner and select the ‘Allow’ option.
- Close Internet Explorer.
- Re-start the upload process.
If you do not see the security banner, it is likely that it is being blocked due to your browser security settings. Please utilize the following steps to change your browser settings:
- From your Internet Explorer ‘Tools’ menu, select ‘Internet Options’.
- Select the ‘Security’ tab.
- Select the ‘Internet’ zone.
- Select the ‘Custom Level’ button.
- Scroll to ‘Automatic prompting for ActiveX controls’ and select the ‘Enable’ option. Click ‘OK’.

In most cases, as long as you have the Java Runtime Environment installed (available at www.java.com), the inteleGRID upload control will automatically launch and your CD drive, USB drive, and desktop will be scanned for DICOM images. Step 1 and 2 should be followed if you need to install Java or are experiencing any issues and need to verify the installation on your PC.

- The control will automatically search for images in three locations: CD ROM Drive, USB Drives, Desktop
- Any studies found will be displayed.
IMPORTANT: The control will only find a study if there is a DICOMDIR located in the root of any of the locations above. If there is not a DICOMDIR or if the images are nested under the root, the images will not be found automatically. When this happens, you will be presented with two options:
You can correct the location of the images and click ‘Search Again!’ or you can click ‘I’ll locate the files myself’ to open a file browse box and locate the images. If the control found images but did not find the images you were expecting, you can select the ‘Add Another Study…’ button to open a file browse box and locate the images.

- Click the ‘Send Images Now’ button.
- Enter any comments (as necessary). Click ‘Next’.
- The images will begin to transfer. NOTE: The images will upload in the background. You can Open the ‘InteleGRID – Uploader’ window from your taskbar to check on the status of your upload. Do not close this box. It will close automatically when the upload is finished.
- When the transfer is complete, you will receive an email confirming that your images were received.
