Basic Troubleshooting

Below is a summary of some of the most common issues with installing the inteleGRID Transfer Agent.

  1. Unable to install software

Though this step was verified in the qualification checklist, in order to install the inteleGRID Transfer Agent, you must have local administrator rights to your PC. This is only needed for the installation and not for the ongoing use of the technology. Please contact your local IT Department to assist with this. They will be able to provide you with temporary access required to install the software.

    2.  Internet Explorer utilizing Java upload applet

If you have installed the inteleGRID Transfer Agent as directed above and the browser is utilizing a Java upload applet instead (like the one shown below).  To correct this, please follow the steps in section the below.

  3.  Unable to enable ActiveX component Using Internet Explorer

After you install the Transfer Agent, but before your first upload, an ActiveX upload control must be verified and enabled in your Internet Explorer browser. In some instances, due to browser security settings, this action may be blocked, thus preventing the installation. Further, this must be done in a timely manner or else an alternate Java-based upload applet will load (as indicated above).

If you can see the security banner, utilize the following steps to complete the installation:

  1. Click on the security banner and select the ‘Allow’ option.
  2. Close Internet Explorer.
  3. Re-start the upload process.

If you do not see the security banner, it is likely that it is being blocked due to your browser security settings. Please utilize the following steps to change your browser settings:

  1. From your Internet Explorer ‘Tools’ menu, select ‘Internet Options’.
  2. Select the ‘Security’ tab.
  3. Select the ‘Internet’ zone.
  4. Select the ‘Custom Level’ button.
  5. Scroll to ‘Automatic prompting for ActiveX controls’ and select the ‘Enable’ option. Click ‘OK’.
  6. Select ‘Yes’ when prompted by the ‘Warning!’ box.

  9. Re-start the upload process.
  10. Click on the security banner and select the ‘Allow’ option.
  11. Close Internet Explorer.
  12. Re-start the upload process.

The goal is to see the following button in your browser:

Installing the Java Based Upload Control

In most cases, as long as you have the Java Runtime Environment installed (available at www.java.com), the inteleGRID upload control will automatically launch and your CD drive, USB drive, and desktop will be scanned for DICOM images. If you are confident that you have Java installed and enabled, skip to Step 3 and attempt an image upload. Step 1 and 2 should be followed if you need to install Java or are experiencing any issues and need to verify the installation on your PC.

Step 1: Install Java Runtime Environment

IMPORTANT: We recommend you complete the three-step Site Qualification Checklist prior to beginning this installation. Please, refer to the items above if you have not already done so. To install the Java Runtime Environment, complete the following steps:

  1. Open your browser and go to www.java.com
  2. Click the ‘Free Java Download’ button.
  3. Follow the prompts and steps to install the software.

Step 2: Verify that Java is Enabled

Java must be enabled in your web browser in order to be able to upload images. Most of the time it will be enabled by default. Follow the steps below to verify for your particular browser.

To verify that Java is enabled in Internet Explorer:

  1. From the ‘Tools’ menu ( ), select ‘Internet Options’.
  2. From the ‘Security’ tab, select the ‘Custom Level’ button.
  3. Scroll to ‘Scripting of Java Applets’

  1. From the ‘Tools’ menu ( ), select ‘Settings’.
  2.  Click the ‘Show advanced settings…’ link.
  3. From the ‘Privacy’ section, select the ‘Content Settings…’ button.
  4. From the ‘JavaScript’ section, verify that ‘Allow all sites to run JavaScript’ is selected.

To verify that Java is enabled in Safari:

  1. From the ‘Preferences’ menu, select ‘Security’
  2. Select ‘Allow Plug-ins’, then click ‘Manage Website Settings’.
  3. Click on the Java item, select ‘Allow Always’ from the pulldown list ‘When visiting other websites’.
  4. Click ‘Done’, then close the Safari Preferences window.

Step 3: Upload Images

With Java now verified, we recommend performing a test upload to the inteleGRID. Use the following simple steps to upload images from a CD:

  • Insert the CD containing the study to be transferred into the CD-ROM drive.
  • Open your browser and go to http://uploadtest.secureimagesend.com (NOTE: All images sent to the upload test site will be anonymized)
  • Click the ‘Send Medical Images’ link.
  • If you are a registered inteleGRID user, enter your email address and password (on the left side) and click ‘Login’. If you do not have an inteleGRID account, enter your email address (on the right side) and click the ‘Continue as a Guest User’ box.
  • The control will automatically search for images in three locations:  CD ROM Drive, USB Drives, Desktop
  • Any studies found will be displayed.

IMPORTANT: The control will only find a study if there is a DICOMDIR located in the root of any of the locations above. If there is not a DICOMDIR or if the images are nested under the root, the images will not be found automatically. When this happens, you will be presented with two options:

You can correct the location of the images and click ‘Search Again!’ or you can click ‘I’ll locate the files myself’ to open a file browse box and locate the images. If the control found images but did not find the images you were expecting, you can select the ‘Add Another Study…’ button to open a file browse box and locate the images.

  • Select the study that you would like to upload. (NOTE: If only one study is found, it will automatically be checked.)
  • Click the ‘Send Images Now’ button.
  • Enter any comments (as necessary). Click ‘Next’.
  • The images will begin to transfer.                                                                                              NOTE: The images will upload in the background. You can Open the ‘InteleGRID – Uploader’ window from your taskbar to check on the status of your upload. Do not close this box. It will close automatically when the upload is finished.

  • When the transfer is complete, you will receive an email confirming that your images were received.
